National Office Furniture is pleased to announce the $10,000 Gift of Inspiration winner, Southwest Middle School in Savannah, Georgia. The current economy presents many challenges throughout the education industry so National wanted to do its part in inspiring learning organizations with an opportunity to win $10,000 in support of scholarship funds, endowments, learning materials and other important educational and developmental programs.
With the donation, Southwest Middle School plans to start an after school acceleration program to help students who have been retained better prepare for their transition to high school. The gift will help cover the essentials like supplies, teachers and transportation to ensure these students have every opportunity to achieve their goals.
"These kids have so much potential and our job is really just to help them uncover it" says Beth Jones, Academic Coach, Southwest Middle School, "With the economic times we are in, this Gift of Inspiration is such a wonderful way to help us fulfill a need for these kids that we didn't know how to fill. | National Announces $4.5 Million Investment in UV Finish Technology at Kentucky Facility |
|
National announced a $4.5 million investment to implement Ultraviolet (UV) finish technology in its Fordsville, Kentucky manufacturing facility. This technology utilizes ultraviolet light to cure National's water-based, environmentally-friendly finish, IntegraClear. This low-emitting, energy efficient process results in excellent clarity and durability while enabling National products to meet strict indoor air quality requirements.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved National Office Furniture for up to $615,000 in tax benefits under the recently expanded Kentucky Reinvestment Act (KRA).
"National Office Furniture's decision to reinvest in its Fordsville operation, making environmentally-friendly improvements to its products and processes, is a fantastic success story," said Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear. "It demonstrates a perfect scenario where the state can assist existing businesses in its efforts to retool and become more globally competitive."
