Our Products Reflect Stewardship
We base our business on producing environmentally friendly goods that enhance
the lives of our customers and bring value to the markets we serve. Our
emphasis on low-emitting products protects indoor air quality through the
achievement of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's
Association (BIFMA) Furniture Emissions Standard (FES). Our products earn
the Indoor Advantage mark and the level™ mark from Scientific
Certification Systems (SCS). These certifications add the assurance of
compliance by independent third parties.
By giving customers the option of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified
wood, we offer products that are not only economically viable, but are
environmentally responsible and socially beneficial. Likewise, we are exploring
new ways to incorporate rapidly renewal resources, such as bamboo, cork and
other plants with short growing cycles.
National casegoods include a recycled material content of at least 82 percent.
A wide range of 100 percent recycled polyester choices are available for
upholstered seating products while our packaging contains an average of 30
percent recycled content.
What's more, our manufacturing facilities are registered to the ISO 14001
standard. This management tool enables us to identify and control the
environmental impact of our operations, continually improve our company's
environmental performance and systematically set environmental objectives and
demonstrate their achievement.

We are a Product of our Environment
The National story begins with our parent company, Kimball International. We
sprang from this culture, a way of life rooted in responsibility. The
environment is our home, and we are committed to protecting and enhancing our
world.
We see our legacy as more than quality furniture. It is also a reverence for
nature, which inspires our resolve to protect, nurture and preserve nature's
gifts. Renewable hardwood resources are fundamental to our heritage. Our
reforestation efforts date to 1963, when Kimball International purchased 228
acres and planted 34,000 seedlings. Today, more than half a million plantings
have taken root under our care.
We share this passion for nature with our neighbors and the communities in
which our employees live and raise their families. In 1990, we began our "Trees
for Tomorrow" outreach in which we provide our employee families, community
partners and business associates with seedlings and educational assistance in
an ongoing program to support long-term beautification efforts in their
community.

Growing With Green Buildings
National Facilities testify to our belief in sustainable building practices.
Pursuing guidelines set by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), we
prioritize building practices that support the LEED® (Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System. Benefits to LEED
certification include reduction in energy, water, and material use, leading to
a reduced environmental impact making our green buildings healthier and more
comfortable.
